TransitEye
A community map for reporting Public Transport Victoria ticket inspectors in real time, to help commuters avoid unfair treatment.
TransitEye is a community website for reporting where Public Transport Victoria ticket inspectors are, in real time. It came out of concerns about how inspectors were treating passengers: people drop reports on an interactive map, everyone sees them appear immediately, and a dashboard shows report counts and danger levels.
It's built with Next.js, React and HeroUI in TypeScript, with Supabase for the database, real-time updates and sign-in with GitHub and Google, Leaflet and OpenStreetMap for the map, and deployed on Vercel. Next on the list were PTV API integration to attach reports to trams, trains and buses, a leaderboard, and push notifications.
